Introducing Exercise Into Your Life

When you are thinking about embarking on an exercise routine, you may find your options intimidating.  You see people sweating up a storm and dedicating a lot of time to exercise - and you don’t quite know where to begin with your program.

Many doctors and exercise specialists will recommend that you focus on something you love.  If you enjoy bowling, softball, swimming or walking, make this your exercise routine for now.  You don’t have to kill yourself at the gym in order to get a good workout!  You can allow yourself to do something you enjoy - and still receive the fringe benefit of helping your heart and your health.

Join a team sport.  This will allow you to be social while also getting in some exercise.  Create a walking group.  Purchase a few exercise videos such as Mitch Gaylord’s Melt It Off and see what you enjoy.  You can even rent videos for a few days at a time to get a feel for what you enjoy.  Buy a Bender Ball and enjoy some crunchless abs each day!

Recognizing that you are allowed to enjoy your physical activity can really put you in the right frame of mind to begin - and hopefully to maintain - your exercise routine.
